It can be a daunting task for English speaking adults to discover the best practice approaches on how to study for Spanish. It has become increasingly important to learn the language as it is manifestly more and more entwined in cultures and countries across the globe. In some instances it’s being referred to as the second language of choice.
The uncanny scenario is that most native Spanish speaking individuals can also speak English.In other words they are bilingual. However, the converse is not true. The fact is that most individuals whose native language is English speaks no other language. The business and trade worlds as we know it are getting smaller as a result of better communication methods. Nonetheless these methods are useless if we can’t follow on in each other’s language. Moreover, we won’t be able to recognize and participate in opportunities from those countries. As an example and a topic of interest is the Latin American block where a lot of small to medium business models can be developed for the mutual benefit of all regions.

According to recent population surveys, the United States will have many more Spanish speaking migrants in years to come than they do today. We are already seeing in predominantly English speaking countries signs like “se habla ingles”. In case you didn’t understand the phrase in quotes, it translates – “we speak English here”. Again, that sign speaks volumes it is really telling us (those of us who speak only English), that we are bilingual and you’re not. There are other reasons for becoming bilingual and having Spanish as a second language but too voluminous to be dealt with in this space.
It is therefore imperative that we understand how to study for Spanish if we are to adequately converse and or do business with our Spanish speaking neighbors.
The following simple method may assist you to learn Spanish easily:
(a) Set up a schedule for primary study and stick with it – in other words
determine a time of day and length of period suitable to you (eg.1hr.)
and discipline yourself to stay with it each day.
(b) Find a quiet space to perform task at (a) above.
(c ) When you’re comfortable with tasks (a) & (b) above your next step
should be some form of interactive Spanish language lesson from a
credible source .
(d) Visit (if possible) a Spanish speaking country like Latin America or
Spain with a view to understanding what you’ve learnt whilst
implementing steps (a) to (c ) above – teach yourself Spanish.
Finally, repetition is the key to learn Spanish easily.
As English speaking individuals it would help if we can also developed a keen interest in the Spanish language, so as to remain head and shoulders with all aspects and opportunities connected therewith.
